" We aspire to make the world a friendlier place towards the concerns of children, women and elderly people. "

It is my great pleasure to inform you that Barrackpore Avenue Women’s Cultural and Social Welfare Society (BAWCSWS) has completed 18 years of its journey. It was only possible with all your kind support and co- operation. At present we are running various innervations to cover the needs of children, women and elderly people as well as people with disabilities. Our interventions are mostly covering the underprivileged section of the population living in North 24 Paraganas, West Bengal. As an organization our philosophy is to build the capacity of the underprivileged people, so that they can empower the communities from where they have come. We support children regarding educational development so that they can grow up to become responsible adult citizens of India. Our support for the youth and adults are mostly about adult education to increase their self- confidence, vocational training to build their skills and loan facility to help them organize self – employment.

One of our main activities is providing peace mediation and legal support along with the police to reduce domestic violence. Our intervention in this area is implemented through police station, where we are running “ Saathi” counseling centers to mainly support women in need of legal support for their protection.

We care for elderly people and those with disabilities. For this section of the beneficiaries we run residential “ Homes” to provide them with the needed care and support for a life of dignity. We care for the elderly and people with disabilities. For this section of the beneficiaries we run residential “Homes” to provide them with the needed care and support for a life of dignity.

We also conduct various kinds of awareness camps regarding, health, human rights and general information dissemination about available Government schemes for the underprivileged section of the population. We take this opportunity to thank, all those individual organizations and groups of our country who have supported our mission whole heartedly and helped us to “touch” so many “unfortunate” lives & accordingly we also appreciate the enormous effort put in by many people who are from abroad.

It’s been a joy to “bring smiles” to “sad lips” , the biggest reward to our endeavor.
We hope and look forward to the completion of our beneficiary with the tools of dignity and a means of livelihood.
